Day One-June 1st

Hello everyone,

I finally made it to London.  It was a long red eye flight that entailed a child in the row ahead of me who decided to get sick.  He was about 10 and threw up a majority of the flight.  The first projectile was on himself so one of the guys in our trip gave him his extra pair of shorts so he had pants to wear.  It was sad and disgusting at the same time!  Made me wonder about being a parent and having to deal with the puking situation, not ideal!  I didn't sleep much on the plane; I maybe got a total of an hour.  I slept better on the coach bus ride from the airport to the flatts we are staying in.

The flatts that we are staying in are nice.  They are located by a park and a very busy road.  There is a pub to our left and the sherlock holmes exhibit to our right.  Also next to the Holmes exhibit is the beetles rock and roll store.  I haven't gone to that yet, but I'm sure I will just to check it out!  A bunch of us went to the grocery store once we got here.  Didn't really get much, but it was definitely an experience.

Tonight we travelled as a group to a different part of town for a groupu dinner.  We were suppose to meet our professor there and he told us it would take around 20-30 minutes to get there so we planned occordingly and left 40 minutes ahead.  Well that was definitely wrong.  We hit rush hour in the tube (the underground train/subway system).  It was so busy that we ended up getting seperated first from 3 girls as they got on the wrong train, then we lost 3 others when the train was too packed and the door shut before they could fit on.  In the end we ended up all being about 5 minutes apart from each other.  It was definitely a HOT crazy experience.  We ate at a place called Pizza Express.  It was good!  Then Phil, my professor, took us to a locale pub that he used to frequent when he lived here and he bought us a round.  I ordered a drink called Crabbies.  The bartender said she was going to put something in it to make it taste better so I said w/e since I had no idea what I ordered, I just knew I wanted to try something different.  WELL....that was not smart!  It ended up literally tasting like a flower!!!!  Everyone in the group, all 21 of us tried it and all agreed!  Needless to say I did not finish it, instead I split a cider drink with a friend and that was good!  It literally tasted like apple cider with carbination to it.  I was expecting cider beer like in the states, but this was very good and I definitely can see myself drinking more!

On the way home 5 of us girls decided to head out before the majority of the rest.  They wanted to drink and us 5 girls were tired.  We ended up getting on the wrong train, only to find out we could have stayed on it and it would have been faster!  It is now 10:48 here, 4:48 your time.  I am exhausted and ready for bed!  Tomorrow brings about a whole new discovery!  I am ready to explore more of what London has to offer!
