Day's 9,10 and 11-Canterbury, Catch Up and Relaxation

Sorry for those who have been reading my blog religiously, I got a bit busy and a bit lazy about posting a new blog.  Where do I begin?  Well I ended up getting my camera back!  Thank the Lord is all I can say.  I downloaded all of my pictures from that camera on my computer already.  I put a few pictures already on the blog, so scroll down and have a look at them.  I will eventually load them all either on the blog, on facebook, or a site where everyone can access if they so choose.  I am so happy I got it back; I was ready to kiss the bus driver when he handed it over to me and I knew it was mine (the fact that he was cute helped as well!)  I got a picture of him so I will post that as well! Yes, I changed up my blog page a little.  I put one of my favorite pictures so far as the background and personalized it to be more my style.  Let me know if you think I should change something or your thoughts if you can't read a certain font or color!  Thanks!
So I guess I will start with Thursday.  Thursday was a day that was packed with planned events.  We had school bright and early and then Lecture with John.  Not too much to say about those two things.  But after school I had lunch and talked to my Gparents!  It was great getting to hear their voices!  I miss them both so much and I cannot wait to talk to them on the phone again!  Better yet I can’t wait to share all my stories with them!  After catching up with them, I boarded the bus to Canterbury.
The bus ride was a good 2 hour ride.  We got there and went to the Canterbury Cathedral.  This is one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe.  It was beautiful!  I don’t have much else to say about this, besides in one of the gardens there was a stray cat that reminded me of my neighbor Francesca!  So if you’re reading thing Franky, I was nice enough to get a picture of the cat for you! :P
After Canterbury we headed to a 300 year old pub.  This is was a 30 minute drive that made me sick as a dog!  It was a windy road that was very bumpy.  It is considered a typical countryside European road.  There was literally enough room for us but both sides of traffic had to fit thru it!  It was crazy, our bus driver did an amazing job!  We encountered two cars on the way there and that was intense trying to maneuver around them!  As someone on the bus goes, “If we were playing chicken with the car, we just won!”  We got to this pub and the clearance to the door is, oh maybe 6 feet.  I barely made it through the entrance and come of the guys had to duck.  The inside was really nice with low ceilings.  We had dinner and played a game called “bat and trap.”  The best way to describe it is you have two teams, on one side of the “field” you have to poles that make up a goal post.  On the other is this contraption that you use a paddle to slam it down and that throws the ball up in the air, you then hit the ball and try to get it in between the goal posts.  It’s like soccer, baseball/tee ball, and golf all rolled into one game.  The point of the game is to have a drink in your hand the whole time and to score points.  You can’t block the ball from rolling in, however the team that is on the other side can roll the ball back and try to hit a lil circle on the contraption that counts as an out.  A team can score 100 points as long as the person doesn’t miss the goal post and the other team doesn’t hit the circle.  IDK it was interesting but fun!  It was girls against boys.  I’m not sure who won because I was inside talking to people.  We all had a lot to drink that night, let’s just say Friday we were all moving slowly!  I shared a bottle of champagne with a girl at dinner and we ended up drinking 2 more bottles of wine, I had a couple shots with the bartenders who were great and a few mix drinks!  Yup hangover the next day, but I did it to myself!  The bus was VERY quiet on the way home with everyone sleeping.  We finally got home around 1:30 am.
Friday consisted of class at 11:30.  Phil was smart by letting us sleep in, or I feel a lot of us wouldn’t have made it to class!  After class a nap was in order and so I slept and later in the evening headed to Oxford Street to do some shopping with a girl.  I didn’t really see anything that sparked my interest.  She got a few things tho so I guess I can deem it a success!  We then ate a Pizza Hut!  It was slow services but good food!  I was happy for that!
Today, Saturday, everyone left for Paris.  I had a lazy day!  I stayed up late reading my book, Water for Elephants, and woke up to my phone ringing.  It was a kid on the trip, I missed the call and didn’t call him back.  I then went downstairs to be lazy by watching tv and reading more.  I’ll probably finish the book tonight!  Hopefully see the movie soon as well!  I got a call from a different classmate and I had my phone right by me so I answered.  I guess my roommate Emily and the other guy Jay didn’t end up getting on the right train or something.  I have yet to hear what exactly happened but the professor asked the person to call me to see if they had been back to the flat.  They hadn’t, but I heard them this morning so knew that they were up and moving and had to have made it somewhere.  They think either they ended up on a different part of the train and ended up getting separated by the group, OR that they got on the wrong train and ended up in a different country!  Either way I’m eager to find out.  I’m almost positive they made it to Paris though.  Emily’s facebook update said that she was there just clearly not with the class who was looking for her?
Tonight I went to dinner with Laura who didn’t go on the trip either.  We ate at a place called Nando’s.  She had ate there earlier this week and said it was really good.  They heard about the place from the food network channel and had decided to try it.  I’m glad she wanted to go back because it was DELICIOUS!  Gramps you would have LOVED it!  It was a chicken place with broasted chicken to die for!  You know me I’m not big on chicken, well this was amazing!  You order your chicken with a marinade on it and I ordered the “hot” one.  It was so good!!!!  I’d definitely take you there gpa if you were coming!
Tomorrow I’m heading to church with Laura, doing an art exhibit and doing a lil shopping.  Not much on the agenda this week which is ok because I need to get some laundry done and pack everything up for the journey to Ireland.  I am super excited about that as I have only heard the most amazing things from people who have been there!  I’m excited to see the scenery as well as meet the people and do all the site visits we have planned!  We go a lot more places in Ireland as a group, so that will be nice.  I’m a bit of a loaner on this trip.  Most of you know I’m not usually that type as I can conform to the people around me easily and get along, well not this time!  I’m learning a lot of life lessons which is an ok thing I suppose!  Mom comes in like 2 weeks and in the mean time my current roommate’s birthday is a day before mine so we will have back to back birthday’s to celebrate in Ireland!  Should help keep my mind off missing everyone back home!  At any rate, for those of you who have questions or want to know more, comment or email me at Emily_bucki@hotmail.com  I’m always looking for people to talk to!  For those who have e-mailed me, THANK YOU!  I love hearing about what’s going on back home and love filling you in more than just this blog!  I hope everyone is doing well and can’t wait to bring you more exciting stories and pictures!  J

Adios from London!
